We use ArchiCAD to create 3D models of a customer projects.
ArchiCAD allows us the draw measured, realistic models. The plan view is just one view of the 3D computer model, a horizontal slice which shows the walls, window and door locations. Exterior elevations are a side view of the same 3D model.
Exporting these views as plans helps us obtain building permits and produces the blueprints that the builder will build from.
The process is cost effective alternative to stand-alone renderings and making changes is straightforward.
Seeing a 3D model also lends itself to meaningful conversations on design options, the models providing a visual tool that is useful when discussing proportion, light and shadow, the use of sunlight as a design element, and the specific views from windows.
